Carbon Materials for Catalytic, Energy and Environmental Applications

SCIENTIFIC INFRASTRUCTURE

The group has scientific equipment to develop the two main lines of research:

  • Infrastructure for the synthesis, preparation and characterization of SOL-GEL and other materials. Equipped with several commercial and own designed microwave ovens. It also includes tube furnaces and ovens for drying, treatment and modification of materials, mills for sample preparation and equipment for porous characterization (surface area, narrow distribution of micro/mesoporosity, % porosity, He density and apparent density, etc.), thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity (4-prong and pressure method):

    • Millestone Ethos 1 microwave digestion system.
    • Self-designed multi-mode microwave ovens operating at a frequency of 2450 MHz with temperature control and magnetron power control.

  • Infrastructure to provide a material optimization service for use in electrochemical devices, both for the preparation of electrodes and for electrochemical characterization through galvanostatic cycles, voltammetry, impedance, etc.
