Materials for energy, environment and catalysis
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE GROUP
MATENERCAT's research activity falls within one of INCAR's priority lines in accordance with its Strategic Plan, which is the development of sustainable materials for their use as electrodes and catalysts in different electrochemical systems.
The group has extensive experience both in the design and production of materials with highly controlled structures and physicochemical properties, and in the application of these materials in electrochemical devices (lithium ion batteries, sodium ion batteries, dual ion batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, electrolysers, sensors, etc). The ultimate goal of our research activity is to increase the performance and useful life of these devices, minimizing the environmental impact associated with their manufacture, use and recycling. In this way, we intend to contribute to some of the most relevant scientific challenges, such as sustainable mobility and the implementation of renewable energies.
