The research carried out at MATENERCAT focuses on optimizing the design and production of materials to improve the performance of electrochemical devices used in applications related to catalysis, energy processes or environmental protection.
To this end, two interrelated and complementary lines of research stand out:
Sustainable materials, mainly through SOL-GEL processes using microwave heating technology. Materials for electrodes in electric batteries (lithium ion, sodium ion, double ion, etc.), supercapacitors, electrolysers, fuel cells and sensors.
High energy and power storage systems, with a long useful life, low cost and respectful of the environment, and more specifically, focused on the management and distribution of renewable energies.
