The Carbon Materials Group currently comprises four tenure-track researchers, two post-doctoral researchers and three PhD students. The group boasts a long track-record of research work in the field of carbon materials, developed in the framework of different European-, national- and regional-funded grants, as well as collaborative contracts with the industrial sector, in areas that relate to their synthesis, functionalization and practical application. Emphasis is placed both on fundamental studies and on more application-oriented aspects of carbon materials, which are at present focused on two broad topics: (1) porous carbon materials, particularly those obtained by nanocasting techniques, and (2) graphene and other two-dimensional materials, mainly derived by colloidal routes.
