METALS AND ENVIRONMENT

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE GROUP

The research activity of this group is related to the prevention, evaluation, control and minimization of the impact that pollutants from industrial activities have on the environment. This topic is included in one of the main lines of INCAR, which is the decarbonization of industrial sectors, specifically the reduction of polluting emissions.

In recent years its research has focused on the development and improvement of solids that allow the elimination of contaminants, both individually and simultaneously (multi-pollutant), the evaluation of the quality of by-products in view to their possible valorization and correct management, thus looking for an efficient use of the resources (circular economy).

The most recent research is directed towards the development of sustainable solids from biomass waste and their application for the decontamination of water and soil as well as the search for new sources of strategic metals.
