DR. MARCOS JOSÉ GRANDA FERREIRA

Marcos Granda received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry Science from the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 1986 and 1992, respectively. After his Ph.D. degree, he spent two years in the University of Loughborough, UK (1993-1995). He gained a permanent position at CSIC in 1998 (Tenured Scientist). Currently, he is Research Professor since 2023 at the Carbon Science and Technology Institute, CSIC (Oviedo, Spain). His research is focused on the processing of coal and petroleum derivatives to produce carbon materials (fibres, graphites, graphene materials, etc.) for several applications in the energy and environmental fields. He is co-author of more than 130 papers included in the JCI. He has participated in more than 30 competitive research projects, being main researcher in 12 of them, and more than 30 R&D contracts in collaboration with national and international companies. Since more than 15 years, he is teaching at the University of Oviedo as external professor in post-graduate courses, currently within the Materials Science and Technology Master.
